Laboratory information system wins three iAwards
The National Blood Authority’s (NBA) laboratory information system interface, BloodNet, has been recognised as a leading example of ICT innovation three times over. The system dominated the competition in this year’s iAwards for the ACT — an annual event which honours companies at the cutting edge of technology innovation.
BloodNet automates the real-time exchange of hospital inventory levels of critical blood stocks and the status of each unit, thus freeing up hospital pathology laboratory staff from laborious double- and triple-keying of critical data. It also enables the NBA to quickly intervene in supply when needed.
The laboratory information system was the recipient of the following iAwards:

BloodNet will be competing with iAwards winners from other states and territories from 25–27 August in Melbourne. The national winners will then go on to compete on a global level with businesses from across the Asia-Pacific region at the APICTA (Asia Pacific ICT Alliance) Awards from 18–22 November in Sri Lanka.
